Writing Retreat in the Adirondack Mountains
Hello, writers!
I’ve been procrastinating sending this out because I’m in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign for my band, which has nothing to do with you or writing, but the point is it’s been hard for me to wrest my Writing Brain from my Music Brain. So I asked ChatGPT to write this for me. See what you think.
Ready to escape to the mountains and unleash your creative powers? Come join Nerissa Nields and Elaine Apthorp in the stunning Adirondacks of upstate NY for a weekend of writing, optional hiking, good food and great people.
We'll kick things off on Friday evening at 5:30pm with a scrumptious dinner at the house, then dive into our writing journey, wherever it takes you. With plenty of laughter, camaraderie, and maybe even some singing (if the spirit moves), we'll craft and share our stories until 8:30pm.
On Saturday and Sunday, we'll gather at 9am for coffee, tea and prompts. Elaine is available as a manuscript mentor for those who want some in-depth editorial assistance. A delicious midday meal will keep us fueled for more writing and group sharing until 5pm. Of course, at any time, you can play hooky and go for a quick (30 minute) hike up Baxter Mountain, or longer (2 hour) hike up Hurricane.
The spacious family house is situated in the heart of the High Peaks and features stunning views of Hurricane Mountain through ginormous windows. There's even a screened porch and a deck to soak in the fresh mountain air. And for you songwriters out there, we've got private rooms just for you.
So, what are you waiting for? Sign up for a weekend of creativity, fun, and book tawk. Who knows? Maybe we'll stumble upon a new genre of literature. Anything is possible when you write in the Adirondacks with Nerissa and Elaine!
(I, Nerissa, had to reign ChatGPT back a little, here. And it really did say “ginormous.”)
Also, ChatGPT said, “Nerissa, tell them more about your band’s Kickstarter campaign!”
I said, “No way, Robot, that’s a whole other thing, and anyways, I hate marketing and I’m tired and Ted Lasso is on tonight.”
ChatGPT said, “Then you’re stupid. Plus the writers in your Wednesday Night group said they only wanted to have to read one of your newsletters, so put your pitch into this and save their eyeballs.”
Nerissa: No. Leave me alone.
ChatGPT: Fine. You go watch you little show and go to bed. (Mwah ha ha….)
HOLY GOLY WOW!!!! A New Nields Album!
The Nields have recorded and released twenty albums in their thirty-two year career, and because Nerissa writes lots of songs in her writing groups, she wants to make more albums, and both she and Katryna want to travel again to visit their friends and fans all over the world. That costs money. So please help by choosing one of their EXCELLENT Pledge options today and they will send you a copy of their new album* as soon as it comes out—Release Date Friday June 16! More information is here at their Kickstarter page.
A non-GPT, actual human publicist says:
The Nields have carved out a singular style that combines pop craftsmanship, folk sensibility, ‘60’s classic rock and ‘90’s alternative––always with an intelligent (occasionally humorous) take on the curve balls that life continually serves up. It's a sound Apple Music describes as “equal parts The Beatles, the cranberries and Joni Mitchell.”
*ChatGPT, who is no fool, and creepily human-like, knows perfectly well that you don’t need a copy of an album, since you likely stream everything via subscription, but it implores you nonetheless to support your friendly neighborhood starving musician.
